RNLI Hovercraft Station

This new Hovercraft Station was constructed between 2008 and 2009.  It allows a more convenient base for the RNLI Inshore Rescue Hovercraft, The Hurley Flyer. Since it came in service at Morecambe it has been kept in a garage behind the promenade (north of Hornby Terrace) which is quite a way from a launch point.

The new Hovercraft Station has been constructed next to the Stone Jetty slipway, just north of the Midland Hotel.  It is a unique triangular design featuring a curved roof.
