Mosaics

This took about a few months to complete and was my first outdoor mosaic. The tiles were attached directly to an outside wall as opposed to using a backing (at the time I was only just beginning with mosaics). It was started in Spring 2008 and was finally completed in April 2009. The long time period was due to the bad weather we had during 2008. It wasn't the easiest mosaic to do and it may have been better if I'd used a backing and completed it indoors. It was very problematic due to the awkward position of the wall and the fact that it kept raining throughout the summer of 2008. For this design I used a combination of glass tiles and mirror tiles. The mosaic also forms the front of a Chamomile seat which itself sits between two raised beds of scented plants. |
