Mosaics

The Seahorse This was the first mosaic I created and it took me only a few days to do. It was constructed out of ceramic tiles which were broken up with a hammer to achieve the desired shape. This was probably not the easiest method, however, it was the first time I'd tried this sort of thing. I used a slate roof tile as a base and the original idea was to hang the mosaic up in the Secret Garden (this was so it could be easily removed should the project need to relocate). For the design I found some clip-art which I then used to lay the tiles out in a seahorse shape. As for the background I was originally going to use crushed glass. However this material proved somewhat problematic which led me to using blue ceramic tiles instead.
